and create a roadmap to get you there.
This isn’t some fancy notebook you’ll put on your shelf in your office and never look at again.
This plan is living. You’ll go back day after day to make sure you’re on track.
You’ll adjust when needed.
And it covers EVERYTHING to accomplish the goals you set out in the plan.
Systems
Growth requires additional

to move the work forward.
They streamline the work
and keep your staff
from guessing.
Staffing
Staffing is the strongest
indicator of your growth.
Your plan will lay out
who you need to hire
and when, so every action
is covered.
Budget
Dreams cost money.
Knowing exactly what
your growth will cost…
and how to fund it…
is what turns a vision
into a plan.
A few years ago, I was helping a mental health charity work out a 3-year strategic plan…
We were dreaming together… all the things they wanted to be doing in the next 3 years.
Their mission statement was simple. Provide the best outpatient mental health counseling services in our region to anyone that needs it, regardless of their ability to pay.
These folks wanted to give their clients the very best opportunity to get their lives together.
They really cared.
As we talked through their dreams, it also led to clarity. Some of the things they had been dreaming of doing were amazing and could be life-changing for their clients.
But those things weren’t in their mission. And there were other charities in their area that were already doing those things… well.
So, the plan was no longer “add these things outside our mission and expertise” but it became “add one staff member to help our clients navigate other services that can supplement the care and support they get here.”
So, we put a budget and fundraising plan to it, a deadline, and someone in charge of the hire.
And that, my friend,
is Strategic Planning.
